Job summary
We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Anaesthetist to join our talented and dedicated team of consultants at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board (CTMUHB). The successful candidate will be based at one of our three hospital sites: Royal Glamorgan Hospital (Llantrisant), Prince Charles Hospital (Merthyr Tydfil), or Princess of Wales Hospital (Bridgend). There may also be opportunities for cross-site work as required.
Cwm Taf Morgannwg has a vibrant anaesthetic department which has taken the lead in introducing many quality improvement initiatives across the health board. The team prides itself on its friendly and inclusive nature and its innovative approach to delivering the best possible care to its patients.
You will be joining us at an exciting time for the organisation as we develop regional diagnostic and day surgery facilities at Llantrisant Health Park for the communities of South East Wales. Clinical Leadership for this initiative is provided by one of our Consultant Anaesthetists.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will assist in the provision and development of safe, effective and efficient anaesthetic services across the health board. The job plan will consist of 10 sessions made up of 8 DCC's and 2 SPA sessions per week. Further SPA will be awarded for additional duties by mutual agreement.
Clinical sessions will comprise of emergency and elective theatre sessions and non resident on call. Rota frequency for the on call committment will be 1:14.

Essential
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Fellow Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA) or equivalent
- Must be on the specialist register, be within 6 months of attaining CCT or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register within 6 months at the time of interview
- Advanced Life Support Provider
- Eligibility to work and live in the UK
Desirable
- Advanced Life Support or equivalent instructor
- Posession of an additional degree, diploma or post graduate qualification e.g. MRCP/PGMEd
- Special interest / advanced module in pain medicine
- Special interest in Regional Anaesthesia, advanced airway management, paediatrics
Knowledge and Experience

- Understands the importance of patient safety and risk
