Ward 4 is a specialty ward, caring for patients with cardiology , diabetes & endocrine patients who require high level of care.
This advert is for a fixed term to cover maternity leave and to ensure the ward is staffed appropriately and safely for the high level care we provide to patients in one designated bay of 8 beds within the ward. which cares for CCU/high dependency level patients (to level 4 and 5 patients).
We want to invest in you, your education and your development are extremely important to us. We aim to send all nurses on Advanced Life Support (ALS) and support your learning and educational needs by sending you on courses in the University of South Wales.
We will be as flexible as we can with your off duty requests as we acknowledge the need for flexible working and having a healthy work life balance ensures the team are happy, which in turn ensures our patients receive the safest and most efficient care.
Fixed term/secondment to cover maternity leave' changed to 'Fixed term/secondment for 12months from start date to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job
The ward is committed to ensuring the best outcomes to acutely unwell patients with cardiology and endocrine conditions. This will involve the skills needed to nurse level 5 patients in designated high care bays.
A period of time will be given for you to work with your mentor in preparation of your new role and excellent support is provided by an experienced group of ward sisters.
In your first few months we will ensure that you are trained in many skills that you will need. This includes cannulation and phlebotomy, male catheterisation , POC testing, blood transfusion and sampling, ILS , medicines management and IV drugs administration.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
