The appointed individual will be required to work independently as well as within a team providing support for the junior team members. We will support their training and development and help them gain the necessary skills to develop their Occupational Health career.

They will actively participate in the delivery of a professional pro-active Employee health and Wellbeing Service for the UHB's and external organisations.

Knowledge and/or experience of Occupational Health and an interest in all aspects of physical and mental health and well-being are an integral part of this role. The ideal candidate would be able to assist in the development of the service and take a pro-active approach in order to influence the health and wellbeing of employees.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the provision and development of a pro-active Occupational Health Service for the employees of Cwm Taf Morganwwg UHB and Cardiff and Vale UHB and external agencies, in accordance with the statutory requirements.

The post holder has a responsibility for the provision of specialist clinical services and to advise employees on the prevention of ill health and other aspects of work - related health problems. The post holder will have continuing responsibility for assessing clinical care needs and developing, implementing and evaluating clinical care programmes in accordance with agreed policy. The post holder is expected to accept delegated responsibility for the management of day-to-day clinic activity.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
