Job summary

As Deputy Head of Commissioning, you will work within the Welsh Kidney Network (WKN). You will lead a complex delegated commissioning portfolio. Leading a diverse and changing portfolio of work aimed at the continual development of kidney care across Wales, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services. Initially this will include but not be limited to the:

Implementation of the Digital Review Monitoring the Value in Healthcare schemes Responsible for the ongoing delivery of the WKN strategy and workplan Contribute to procurement exercises Monitoring contract performance of kidney services Matrix manage an all Wales team

You will work closely with the core Welsh Kidney Network team and lead clinicians, as well as with our colleagues and stakeholders across and within provider Health Boards, Welsh Government and the wider Joint Commissioning Committee.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Head of Commissioning will manage a designated portfolio within a Commissioning Directorate, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred services.

Manage the planning, stakeholder engagement, and performance management of the delegated portfolio to achieve the best outcomes for patients and the organisation.

Lead on overarching contract management and review, taking oversight of the portfolio of contracts across the Directorate, utilising strong commissioning skills, collaborating with the Heads of Commissioning to ensure appropriateness and consistency to deliver high quality, equitable services delivering improved outcomes for patients and value for money.

Work with Finance and Value colleagues to ensure contracts and Long-Term Agreements are fit for purpose and consistent.

Be accountable to the Assistant Director of Commissioning for their performance and provide expert advice to the Director of Commissioning and their deputy on the commissioning of services within their delegated portfolio.
