Job summary
This post will join the team responsible for the provision of medical services to the local Health Board in Cwm Taf Morgannwg. The post will be part of the general Medical team and provide support to the combined general medical on-call rota for emergency work at a SHO level as well as support to ward based speciality teams, or the acute medical unit.
The post holder will be required to support the delivery of outpatient, inpatient and emergency services for the local population and in doing so foster excellent working relationships within and outside the specialist area, including medical, nursing, secretarial and support staff, General Practitioners and Management Teams.
The post holder will be part of the out of hour's on-call rota. This may be subject to change, in accordance with appropriate consultation process with post holders.
Main duties of the job
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT FOR UP TO 6 MONTHS TO COVER A TRAINING VACANCY. Although the post is not recognised for training, participation in educational programmes, teaching, audit and quality improvement will be encouraged and supported and dedicated SPA time is included.
The role will cover all aspects of medical services working at SHO level grade. This is an ideal opportunity for candidates who wish to gain wider experience in general medicine and help prepare them for either IMT/ACCS level or higher level training. The post holder will be required to work on the junior doctor on-call rota for Princess of Wales Hospital. There will also be the opportunity to develop outpatient clinic experience as practical procedures, the post would enable the successful applicant to achieve the competencies needed to apply for training posts.
Experience of working in the UK at least foundation level of general medicine would be expected and special interests, which complement existing services, will be supported.
