Advanced Clinical Practitioner in Respiratory medicine covering inpatient and outpatient work within the Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend.
This post is fixed term for 12 months to meet the needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
Clinical assessment, diagnosis and management of patient presenting with acute and chronic respiratory conditions - differentiated and undifferentiated
Education - education of others and self
Leadership- lead on change and support development of guidelines and policies
Lead on the development of Acute Respiratory Assessment Unit
Research- use of evidence-based practice and support/lead on project development

Job responsibilities
The ACP will work as an autonomous clinician and will be expected to provide assessment, diagnostic investigations and management of patients both as inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.
They will need be able to undertake a clinical examination, request and interpret radiology, biochemistry, haematology, histology, and microbiology results.
Will be expected to impart sensitive diagnosis, undertake sensitive conversations around Treatment Escalation/DNARCPR/EOL
Will be expected to refer to other key specialists to support the management of the patients in the service clinically and from a discharge point of view.
Will be expected to independently discharge patients from the service inpatient and outpatient.
Education:
Provision of education to a multi-professional audience around specialist area of practice and to patient and families. Maintenance of own education and a live portfolio of evidence in line with HEIW Enhanced and Advanced Framework for Wales and HB requirements.
The candidate is expected to have completed or working toward Level 7/Masters level clinical education and non-medical independent prescribing qualification.
Leadership:
Lead on service change. Influence the agenda around specialist area of practice locally and nationally. Support the development of clinical guidelines and policy
Influence the agenda around Respiratory medical services across CTM
Provide professional development of band 7 ACPs/CNSs in the service
Research:
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our well established, motivated and forward thinking respiratory medical/ at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner.

Undertake QiP/ audit/research projects related to specialist area of practice
The post is open to fully trained Advanced Clinical Practitioners from nursing or AHP backgrounds. Those with extensive and experience in respiratory medicine who have yet to achieve Advanced Practice status or all of the key skills and requirements for this role will be considered. In this instance a developmental post at band 7 with application of Annex 21 will adopted.
