Job summary

We are looking to recruit dynamic and enthusiastic Audiologists to join the NHS Bank Staff Team for Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Audiologists. Consideration will be given to applicants who are soon to complete their BSc in Audiology. The department is pro-active in providing CPD training, further academic study and Preceptorship support.

Services may include direct referral, adult rehabilitation, ENT Clinics and paediatric assessments. Individuals may be required to work unsupervised to support ENT Clinics on weekends. The successful candidates may be asked to attend clinics at all the Health Board sites.

Candidates should be registered/eligible for registration with the RCCP or The Academy of Healthcare Science.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This means Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2). We don't need fluency. The main duties of this post is to provide diagnostic and rehabilitative input to patients regarding their hearing difficulties.

Essential

  • BSc (Audiology). Eligibility for registration with RCCP or the Academy of Healthcare Science. Working knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology. Audiological Quality Standards. British Society of Audiology protocols. Familiar with the electoacoustic specifications of NHS hearing aids. Desire to develop knowledge and skills through CPD.

Desirable

  • Membership of British Association of Audiologists and British Society of Audiology. Knowledge of Auditbase Audiology patient management system. ECDL or equivalent.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience with IT systems. Performing a range of routine audiological investigations. Taking ear mould impressions. Fitting and prescribing hearing aids. Counselling and advising hearing impaired patients.

Desirable

  • Some experience in supervision of trainee Audiologists. Experience with fitting digital and analogue hearing aids. Experience with Audiology clinical software systems

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent manual dexterity for the repair of hearing aid systems. Good IT skills. Ability to communicate technical information to colleagues, patients, manufacturers and suppliers. Clear speech to enable communication with hearing impaired people. Ability to get on with colleagues and other professional staff. Ability to deal sympathetically with patients and their relatives. Ability to work alone or as part of a team.

  • Manual handling skills Deaf Awareness. Able to adapt to changing circumstances. Welsh speaker.
