Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our newly established Community Infection Prevention and Control Team. Following an initial induction period in the hospital setting, this post will be primarily based in the community. An ability to travel across the Health Board boundary is essential for this role.
The post holder will play an active role in the Infection Prevention and Control Teams activities, providing support to deliver the Health Boards Infection Prevention Strategic Improvement Plan, within the competencies of the role.
Main duties of the job
- Visit a range of community settings and primary care services to improve infection prevention and control practices and reduce healthcare associated infections
- To participate in infection prevention and control audit activities e.g., Environmental monitoring audit, Hand hygiene audit, Isolation audit, care bundle compliance and report findings to the Infection Prevention nurse.
- To undertake surveillance activities as directed by the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses, including basic data collection to support surveillance programmes (demographics, device utilization etc)
- Arrange, support and participate in the delivery of training/education sessions
- Organise and prioritise workload with direction and supervision of the Infection Prevention and Control Nurses.
- Provide Infection Prevention and Control posters and other materials to community settings
- Use of IT packages and systems to store IPC data
- Assist in other duties relevant to role and competency
