This post is fixed term for 12 months to cover the needs of the service.
We have an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our busy team as part of the Theatres service in the Prices of Wales Hospital supporting with the care of patients during their peri-operative journey.
The successful candidate will provide support to registered staff, patients, and colleagues during their peri-operative journey.
As well as direct patient care, you will be involved with preparing and checking equipment, carrying out safety checks, ensuring clinical areas and equipment are cleaned and restocked, and helping to collect and return patients to the ward areas.
You should be a diligent, compassionate individual who is a team player and have good communication and organisation skills.
Main duties of the job
- Communicate with a range of patients with differing needs, including overcoming any barriers to understanding such as deafness / language difficulties.
- Provide support to patients referring any essential information/ questions/concerns to registered professionals.
- Communicate with other health professionals to perform delegated duties to ensure a safe service.
- Participate in Patient Safety steps for example briefs, time out, debriefs.
- Pass information to other healthcare staff to ensure patient safety and continuity of care.
- Undertake induction and competency-based programmes to perform delegated supervised duties.
- Complete statutory and mandatory training.
- Follow policies/procedures/ guidelines/protocols/of work.
- Only working within delegated duties under supervision of registered staff / following schedules of work.
- Alerting registered staff to any missing or incomplete documentation/ relevant patient safety information when performing patient checks.
- Identifying whether items are sterile /disinfected and reporting compliance to standards.
- Performing in conjunction with registered staff swab, needle, instrument and item counts alerting registered staff of any inconsistencies.
- Report to registered staff deviations or trends from baseline basic physiological monitoring of patients.
- Reporting faulty equipment and any alert hazard alarms on equipment.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
