Job summary

The Adult Community Mental Health Directorate within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is seeking to appoint an Operational Support Manager to provide strategic and operational support to the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) across the Rhondda, Cynon, and Taf localities.

This pivotal role involves the line management of approximately 20 staff across multiple sites, requiring a flexible, dynamic, and proactive approach to leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination and oversight of key operational functions, including the management and timely reporting of data related to the Mental Health Measure.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians--including Psychiatrists, Nurses, and Social Workers--the post holder will ensure the smooth running of CMHT services, supporting both day-to-day operations and longer-term service development.

Main duties of the job

Line management of administrative staff, including leave requests and ensuring a safe and continuous service is maintained at all times.

Management of sickness absence for administrative staff, again following the appropriate Policy and ensuring processes are followed.

Provide direct day-to-day operational support in the provision of quality services within budget and that all opportunities for the continuous development and improvement of the service are appropriately considered and pursued.

  • To support the Directorate Management Team, and lead on improvement/ modernisation within own area of responsibility with respect to the service development.
