Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 8a Haematology Operational Manager role within the Haematology department at the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible, forward thinking, driven individual, to help deliver a high quality, first class Haematology service to our users. The successful candidate will lead and support a strong Haematology senior team across all of the hospitals within the health board.
The ideal candidate must be a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a relevant Biomedical Science Masters degree or equivalent experience.
You must have UK laboratory experience as a Senior Biomedical Scientist, at band 7 level or above.
The post holder will also be expected to have leadership and management qualifcations or relevant experience.
The post-holder will be expected to manage all aspects of the service, whilst leading the senior team and delivering a quality based, supportive, and dedicated haematology service.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for managing the team to deliver the day to day operational management of the hospitals haematology departments within the health board.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with the Haematology service manager and other stakeholders including members of the blood transfusion team, CTM quality team , and other operational managers.
You will be an intergral member of the haematology service. You will be expected to perform staff appraisals and other HR/workforce duties and you should therefore have good communication and interpersonal skills.
This post will be based at the Royal Glamorgan hospital however there is an expectation to travel to, and provide cover at other Cwm Taf Morgannwg laboratories depending upon service needs. You will be committed to providing a high quality service to our patients and have a commitment to training and quality, leadership and development. You should have an understanding of ISO 15189:2022 accreditation.
