Job summary
Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB are seeking a notable nurse leader to take on the role as Senior Infection prevention and control nurse. This is an exciting opportunity as we prepare to develop a Primary as well as a Secondary care service within CTMUHB.
This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of infection prevention and control principles. The nurse will work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
Main duties of the job
Leadership and Management
Policy development - work closely with the Head of Infection Control and Prevention Nursing and with senior staff to contribute, implement and review Infection Control and Prevention strategy, policies and protocols
Education and Training - participate in the development and delivery of training and education programs to all BIPCTM members
Surveillance and Reporting - providing reports to the Infection Control and Prevention meeting
Clinical Advice - providing specialist clinical advice on Infection Control and Prevention that directly relates to patients Collaboration - working in conjunction with other departments and external agencies to promote infection prevention and control practices

Mange the Infection prevention & control team ensuring supervision, mentorship and assessment via the development review process
Ensure safe systems and processes are in place for infection control to identify and minimise risks with regard to IPC; in relation to clinical practice, influencing clinical managers and patient safety

Receive and impart highly sensitive and complex information regarding IPC on a regular basis to others within and outside of the Health Board, including Welsh Government.
Communicate and demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity when communicating highly sensitive information to patients/ clients, visitors/ relatives and colleagues with regards to transmissible infections, overcoming any barriers to understanding.
