The opportunity has arisen to employ Dietetic Support Worker's on the bank at CTMUHB to work with children and families or adults to deliver a range of community based initiatives; utilising a range of agreed approaches to support positive changes to food, nutrition, and physical activity behaviours. They will support the local delivery and evaluation of Nutrition Skills for LifeTM services.

The successful candidates will receive a range of training opportunities and work alongside fellow Dietetic Assistant Practitioners in Public Health Dietetics, under the guidance of the Senior Public Health Dietitians. They will receive weekly supervision sessions with a registered dietitian and will work closely with a range of partner agencies to promote positive healthy lifestyle behaviours.

Main duties of the job

  • The bank worker will be expected to take a range of anthropometric measurements
  • Provide a vital link between primary care professionals and the community they are working in, to support and empower service users to make the changes they identify to improve their health and wellbeing
  • Work in partnership, ensuring good communication with the multidisciplinary team e.g. medical staff, Public Health, community nurses, Social Services, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy and other areas appropriate.
  • On a one to one basis offer information and guidance to service users to support and encourage them to improve their health
  • Undertake clinical interventions delegated by a registered Dietitian namely.
  • Motivate and enable individuals to change their behaviour to improve their health
  • Contribute to the collection of data relevant to the services delivered
  • Offering one to one, information and guidance to clients to support and motivate them to improve their health and communicate with individuals about health and health improvement motivating and enabling individuals to change their health
  • Adhere to The Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales. All delegated activities will be in line with the NLIAH (2010) All Wales Guidelines for Delegation.
