Job summary
As part of the Medical Education Team, the post holder will support the Department in ensuring the effective route of both Undergraduates and Postgraduates through their attachment to the UHB. The post holder will also act as a support for the ongoing teaching and training requirements for all Medical Students, Training Grade Doctors and Senior Medical Staff.
English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will act independently within clearly defined occupational policies with work managed rather than supervised, providing a range of administrative support and effectively deliver and prioritise a wide range of duties including some pastoral care duties.
The successful candidate will have a good standard of education, good communication skills both written and oral, and be able to work on their own initiative. Previous relevant experience of working in an education/training environment would be of benefit.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Assist in the planning and implement of the various Medical Student timetables with Honorary Senior Lecturers, Honorary Lecturers and other Clinical Professionals and assist in ensuring that the learning objectives for Medical students as set by the curriculum are met by the UHB.
Will use own initiative to make judgements on training course booking arrangements and prioritising the workload.
Be required to contribute to the production, collation and circulation of feedback from Medical Students.
Deal with day-to-day Student issues and general enquiries for all aspects of the C21 Curriculum, using own judgement to reply to queries.
Have a personal duty of care for any UHB equipment used throughout the course of duty.
Work with Medical Education staff, Honorary Senior/Honorary Lecturers and other clinical staff to prepare course handbooks and teaching/learning opportunity timetables. The compilation of room bookings, tutorials and induction will also be requirement.
