Job summary
Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board are seeking a Non- Medical Approved Clinician/ Multi-Professional Approved Clinician to join their Merthyr Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) to provide highly specialised clinical care using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidence based and within their specific professional skill set. We would be interested in hearing from anyone who has Approved Clinician status or working towards obtaining it.
Merthyr CMHT benefits from a well-integrated health and social care network. The CMHT is deeply embedded in the community, delivering holistic, person-centred care through a multidisciplinary team of Consultant Psychiatrists, CPNs, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, and Social Workers. The CMHT works closely with CDAT, LPMHSS, Primary Care, Forensic Services, and Rehabilitation Services. With 72 adult acute inpatient beds, the Health Board ensures continuity of care across settings.

Main duties of the job
The Consultant level Mental Health Practitioner will be a very senior clinician with a core professional qualification such as a Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or Consultant Psychologist. They will provide highly specialised clinical care within the Community Rehabilitation Team, using advanced clinical knowledge that is evidenced based and within their specific professional skill set.
The Consultant Practitioner will function independently and within a clinical team and will demonstrate competence complimentary to the doctor's role in the delivery of health care.
Provide professional leadership/direct support to Psychologists, Nursing, Occupational Therapists, AHPS, Consultant Psychiatrists, Associate Clinical Directors, Clinical Operational Managers, named supervisees within the UHB and will work with the Managers and Senior Clinicians in the UHB to ensure development and delivery of a robust quality service. Provide expert advice to ensure the needs of the patient are met by leading, challenging and changing practice within the clinical setting. Undertaking independent comprehensive assessment and management of patients to incorporate psychiatric, physiological, psychological and pharmacological considerations, making multifaceted complex clinical decisions regarding patient management and clinical outcomes, including, discharging patients from the service when treatment is complete/optimum outcome is achieved.
