Job summary
The Medicines Management Directorate has an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and committed registered Pharmacy Technician to join our vaccine and WDA team based across Princess of Wales and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital.
Applicants must have a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences OR equivalent Qualifications to enable them to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The successful candidate must hold an Accredited Checking Technician qualification and be in a position to work towards the all Wales Accredited Medicines Management qualification if they have not previously completed it.
Main duties of the job
You must possess excellent communications and organisational skills, be self-motivated and willing to develop with new ways of working.
Attention to detail, being able to work well under pressure, working both as part of a team, independently and using your own initiative are also essential for this role.
The main duties will depend on previous experience but will encompass: Working as an Accredited Checking Technician undertaking the final check and release of prescriptions
- Dispensing and issuing prescriptions and customer orders as part of the WDA wholesale activity
- Management of the vaccine supply service across CTM to schools, CVCs and Primary Care teams
- Participation in the ward based medicines management service undertaking accurate drug histories, assessing patients medication for suitability to use, organising supplies for patients use when in hospital and at discharge and providing advice and counselling to patients ( if not accredited you will be expected to undertake the all Wales qualification to allow you to undertake this aspect of the role).
- Participation in the induction and supervision of new Pharmacy staff and acting as a mentor for junior staff.
