Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Health Care Professional to join the Health, Safety & Fire Team of CTMUHB as a Corporate Manual Handling Trainer (CMHT).
As well as delivering all aspects of Manual Handling Training the successful candidate will also be providing clinical support in our hospitals and communities. This is a full time, Band 6 post, based in Glanrhyd and covering the Bridgend area for the majority of the time but the post holder may occasionally be required to work in any area of the HB to cover staff sickness or leave.
The CMHT will also be responsible for the day to day management of the Band 3 Training Assistant.
Main duties of the job
To plan and deliver corporate patient and inanimate load handling training courses and updates for staff
To liaise with the Risk & Safety Officer in the planning of training courses.
To deliver practical training and provide advice to staff on issues such as risk assessment, moving and handling, provision and use of equipment etc. Patient handling training sessions will be delivered with the assistance of the Manual Handling Training Assistant.
To line manage the Manual Handling Training Assistant, including ensuring that standards of practice are maintained.
To ensure that identified training needs are addressed during training sessions.
To liaise with Directorate key trainers and ward / dept workplace assessors on training and assessment matters.
To assess the competence of staff during training and if required in the workplace e.g. on commencement of employment if previously trained.
To provide advice to staff on issues raised during training sessions and/or seek expert advice on such matters if required. These may be issues relating to moving and handling practice in general, specific patients or staff risk assessment, provision and use of equipment etc.
To be able to travel to other Health Board sites to undertake duties, and also provide office cover at Tonteg when required.
