Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and self-motivated assistant to support our Dietetic team. The post holder will join a motivated and friendly team of dietitians, dietetic assistants and admin and clerical staff within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
The role will include a range of tasks and so would suit applicants looking for a variety of learning and development opportunities. You will undertake specific practical, clinical and administrative tasks which support the delivery of therapeutic interventions. This may include supporting patients to eat and drink, completing malnutrition screening tools and weighing patients. You will spend time with patients at ward level to understand how best to support them with their nutrition and hydration needs, working closely with the Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Dietitians and the rest of the MDT.
Main duties of the job
This post is offered Fixed Term for 19 months (end March 2027) to meet the needs of the service.
- Supporting and assisting Dietitians to provide a dietetic service to the people of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board by implementing and monitoring the nutrition care of patients, both in and out of hospital.
- To work with Dietitians in providing a dietetic service to inpatients including supporting enteral feeding discharges.
- Communicating with a wide range of professional staff, general public and external partners including primary care.
- Development of Dietetic Resources, monitoring stock and ordering appropriate supplies from manufactures.
- Assisting in data collection and production of indicators of outcomes and group education audit reports.
- Registering and validation of outpatient referrals. Booking and management of outpatient clinics and groups including liaison with patients regarding suitable appointments as required.
- Monitoring patients progress and provide follow up advice to patients.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
