Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board for an enthusiastic and motivated Specialist Dietitian to join our team based at Princess of Wales Hospital.
The successful candidate will deliver specialist in-patient services to the adult medical, gastroenterology and surgical wards, which will include the provision of oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition. You will liaise with the MDT re advice on dietetic intervention to deliver excellent patient care. You will be responsible for a monthly outpatient clinic and education sessions, as required to nursing/medical teams. The candidate will have a key role in student training and will also work closely with a Dietetic Support Worker.
Ideally you will have clinical experience working within a variety of specialities and settings that includes working with complex medical and surgical patients. You will be an excellent communicator and have evidence of successful multidisciplinary team working. You should be able to demonstrate your drive and experience of some aspect of service or resource development and evaluation. Experience of supervising others would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
To support the provision of health care, to the people of the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board by providing an efficient and effective dietetic service to a defined specialist caseload of patients. To have clinical responsibility for a mixed caseload made up of inpatients and outpatient clinics. To work as part of a multidisciplinary, multiagency team which will include medical, nursing, therapy staff and other colleagues and agencies both within the hospital and the community.
Principal duties include :
- To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based/client centred principles, (e.g. diabetes, nutrition support and enteral feeding).
- To assess, plan, evaluate and implement Dietetic interventions in specialist inpatients and outpatient clinics.
- To implement aspects of the treatment plan with autonomy, taking sole responsibility for the patient's safety when undertaking community work.

This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
