Job summary

THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR UPTO 12 MONTHS DUE TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a team of experienced nurses within the Pre-Assessment unit at Prince Charles Hospital. The main role of the post holder will be to review waiting list patients for suitability for various surgeries and provide effective assessment of waiting list patients as part of the overall waiting list management process.

You will be a vital part of the Pre-Assessment team, to support the Pre-Assessment Manager, you will be integral to the governance agenda as well as demonstrating excellent and effective leadership skills. In return, you will be supported by a dedicated and passionate team, and you will be supported in your own professional development.

The ideal candidate is a dedicated and enthusiastic nurse who is commitment to delivering high standards of patient focused care. You will be a dynamic nurse who is flexible and prepared for the high pressure demands of the role. You will be committed to ensuring patients are fully supported and prepared as they undergo various surgical procedures. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

Review waiting list patients for suitability for surgery

Provide effective assessment of waiting list patients

Develop the Pre-assessment nurse role within all specialties

Provide advice and support to patients requiring elective surgery

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn't mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn't 'fluency', just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and protocols to enable the development of programmes of care including for pre and post-operative management of surgical patients.
