M11A (WAL/W059/061/DCT1/003)Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with on-call at Prince Charles Hospital,Gurnos Road, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 9DT (main training location) without-patient sessions at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Ynysmaerdy,Llantrisant, Pontyclun, CF72 8XR and Porth Dental Teaching Unit,Leith House, Pontypridd Road, CF39 9PH.
M11B (WAL/7A5HA/980/DCT1/001)Community Dental Service, Ysbyty Cwm Cynon, New Road, MountainAsh, CF45 4BZ (main base) and other sites within Cwm TafMorgannwg UHB.

Main duties of the job
M11A: Prince Charles Hospital, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery withon-call - 6 months1 in 8 out of hours on-call rota in a busy District General Hospital.Experience will be gained in facial hard and soft tissue trauma, orofacial infection, deformity, pathology of the jaws and oral soft tissues,facial and oral neoplasia and dento-alveolar surgery.Trainees will work in out-patient clinics, in-patient wards, A&Edepartments, Operating Theatres and Minor Surgery units.
M11B: Community Dental Service, Ysbyty Cwm Cynon and variousother sites - 6 monthsThe community rotation within Cwm Taf Morgannwg UniversityHealth Board provides experience treating a range of patients withinthe CDS patient demographic, as outlined in the Welsh Health CircularWHC (2022) 022.Clinical experience will include treating patients with complex healthneeds - which may include medical, physical or mental health needs.In addition to the provision of dental care for looked after children orchildren with high rates of dental disease, and frail and vulnerableolder people. The post also includes regular independent domiciliarycare sessions.There will be opportunities to observe inhalation sedation sessions,the paediatric GA lists, general anaesthetic assessment clinics, specialcare dentistry consultants, paediatric specialists, and the designed tosmile prevention programme.
