Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 2 HCSW to join our team on St. David's Unit based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.
We are a 10 bedded older adult admissions unit providing person centred care for people suffering with functional mental health problems.
The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with the qualified to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained across the unit, and be expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in this field of nursing, displaying excellent people skills such as communication. They will be expected to work as part of a team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality person-centred patient care.
Staff working within this environment are afforded the opportunity to experience diverse mental illnesses which effect older people.
Main duties of the job
Duties include :
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team under the direction of a registered nurse.
- To support the delivery of health care with individual service user care plans.
- Support the delivery of a range of interventions required to support service users meeting their personal care needs ensuring safety, privacy and dignity is maintained at all times.
- Observe the safety of service users at all times and if requested account for their whereabouts.
- Assist with safe and supportive levels of engagement of patients deemed to be at risk of harm.
- Participate in supervision from Registered Nurses.
- Develop knowledge and skills via the appraisal and supervision process and keep up to date with statutory and mandatory training.

This doesn't mean you have to be fluent or able to write long reports in Welsh; it just means being able to hold simple conversations with patients.
