Job summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Band 7 Section Leader to join our dynamic Biochemistry team.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to the delivery of high-quality Clinical Biochemistry services across two general hospitals, with your primary location at the newly commissioned laboratory at Prince Charles Hospital.
The successful candidate will lead within our new automated section, which features cutting-edge technology from Roche Diagnostics. There will also be opportunities to rotate and lead in the special chemistry and protein section, helping to broaden your experience and support business continuity.
This is a full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week. Core working hours are Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:10, although occasional work outside of these hours may be required to cover sickness absences.

Main duties of the job
Manage daily laboratory operations, including staff, resources, and specialist technical services in automation.
Supervise, train staff, troubleshoot issues, and ensure quality assurance standards are met.
Report performance to senior management and work autonomously while adhering to broad policies and procedures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- HCPC registered BMS with evidence of ongoing CPD; BSc or equivalent qualification in Biomedical Science; MSc and specialist knowledge in a broad range of areas in the Biochemistry discipline
Desirable
- Higher Specialist Diploma; Fellowship of IBMS; Training qualification; Quality Management qualification; Knowledge of national guidance and legislation governing Biochemistry
Experience
