Job summary
The post holder will be required to work as a Superintendent Radiographer responsible for the operational management of the Plain Film Service, Radiology Directorate, based at the Princess of Wales Hospital
The post holder will provide care for patients attending the Radiology Department.
The post holder will be accountable for own professional actions and comply with CTMUHB policies and procedures and own professional codes of practice.
This post is structured around 6 core functions to include:
- Responsible for the operational management of the Plain Film Radiography Service in the Princess of Wales Hospital
- Undertake radiographic examinations of patients.
- Lead clinical role for the department.
- Provide care for patients attending the department including assisting patients when necessary.
- Liaise with staff across the University Health Board.
To ensure the safety and welfare of staff through the observance and implementation of Health and Safety Policies and also assist them in identifying and achieving training and developmental needs through the implementation of University Health Board policies and procedures.
Main duties of the job
- Liaise with the Quality, H&S & IR(ME)R Leads to ensure consistency of working practices across the Directorate.
- Monitor professional standards within the plain film service, conducting audit of radiographic practice and implementing educational pathways, as necessary, to ensure the quality of Radiology services.
- Comply with the Health Board's Health and Safety Policy and actively participate in this process and have responsibility for managing risk and reporting incidents.
- Ensure all incidents related to your area of responsibility are reported and investigated in a timely manner.
- Be involved in service planning for the department and will liaise with the Superintendent Radiographers, Radiology Directorate Manager and Clinical Director for all service developments.
- You will be expected to work in a team to evaluate equipment for purchase for the department.
- Responsible for performing annual PADRs for radiographic and support staff, setting objectives for them and also identifying their educational needs, towards continual professional development.
- Ensure that Departmental policies and procedures relating to the general department are maintained and updated appropriately.
- Be responsible for the timely allocation of duties/shifts/leave using the electronic roster system to ensure the appropriate levels of staff are available to meet the demands of the service.
