Job summary
Fully supported by experienced Orthoptists this role offers the opportunity for the post holder to play a vital role in the shared care of children with a whole range of visual development disorders. Not only for children with strabismus and refractive errors but also a whole range of ophthalmic and systemic medical conditions that may have an impact on the visual development of children.
Main duties of the job
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, Hospital Optometrist to work as part of the team within the Orthoptic department, at Prince Charles Hospital.
This exciting post offers the successful candidate the opportunity to work within the HES undertaking cycloplegic refractions and fundus checks for Paediatric patients attending the Orthoptic and Paediatric Ophthalmology Departments. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of optometrists, orthoptists and ophthalmologists. There may be necessity to work at other hospital sites within the health board catchment area.
The department is actively involved in the teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students from a range of professional groups. Participation in departmental audit is encouraged.
The modern cities of Cardiff and Swansea, the beautiful Heritage coast line and the Brecon Beacons National Park are all well within reach.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
