Job summary

To provide a comprehensive Mental Health Outpatient service within its hospitals and community settings. Following appropriate systems, procedures, policies and processes. The post holder will work independently to defined policies and procedures and will be required to undertake reception duties, answering telephone enquiries and conveying messages to patients and staff.

The post holder will ensure a high standard of clerical and administration service, including ordering supplies, filing and preparation of clinic notes and to be responsible for the day to day co-ordination of all Outpatient appointments working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The post holder may be expected to undertake additional responsibilities to encompass changes within the NHS, which will remain commensurate with the role.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure medical notes are available and filing of results.
  • Plan and prioritise their own workload, and be required to use own initiative with generalroutine work.
  • Appoint patients using the appropriate Patient Administration System (PAS).
  • Answer telephone queries and, if unable to resolve the issue, pass on information to therelevant professionals in a timely manner.
  • Retrieve and prepare patient case notes using manual and computerised systems asappropriate e.g. WPAS and Case Note Tracking.
