An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 "Specialty Doctor" posts within the Department of General Surgery, Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend with Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. We have one permanent post.
The post holder will be required to work closely with the consultant body and support the junior team in a variety of clinical settings.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our team providing elective and emergency care working within the surgical services of LGI, UGI, breast and endocrine. The successful applicant will join a dedicated team of Junior Clinical Fellows, Specialty Registrars, Specialty Doctors and Consultants.
The successful candidate will be able to develop their knowledge and skills in a busy department. The Speciality Doctors will work with and support a team of consultants.
Clinical duties include outpatient clinics, assisting in emergency and elective operating, reviewing acute patients in the Emergency Department and participating in ward rounds.The post-holder will participate in the General Surgery on-call rota. Other duties will include teaching, training, researching and developing local services as appropriate to skills and experience.
It is expected the post holder will show clinical leadership, set standards and be involved in supervision of junior trainees within the Health Board.
The level of clinical responsibility and delegated duties given to the Specialty Doctor will depend on previous experience and training and this will be in agreement with the Clinical Director and supervising consultant who retains overall responsibility for their patients. A strong team-working ethic is essential for the role.
