Job summary

Carry out planned preventative maintenance, installation, modification and repairs to Hospital plant equipment and property including external doors, fire doors, access doors, wooden, plastic and aluminium windows, flooring, suspended ceilings, walls, fire proofing, electrical and mechanical closers, various types of locks and locking mechanisms, interior and external signage, fencing and various fixing and fixtures, glass and glazing. Maintain decorations both internal and external of all Health Board properties and cleanliness of fabric, plant and equipment.

The post holder will assist in providing day to day maintenance services and support for the Health Board. He/She will be part of a multi disciplinary team able to work autonomously, but will be guided by occupational policies and procedures. Will contribute to partnership working by supporting the Health Board in delivering goals and objectives by supporting continuous improvement in own performance and the performance of the directorate. Attending training, development and other activities aimed at improving own skills for the benefit of the organisation and patient care.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking to recruit a time served Carpenter to the following vacancy within our Estates Department, mainly based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant, however you will be expected to work at all locations within the Health Board. You will have previous experience, preferably in a NHS setting. You will have sound written and verbal communication skills and basic keyboard skills. You will contribute to the maintenance and efficiency of the buildings throughout the Health Board properties including installation and repair duties on a range of building materials and equipment. This will also include flexible working as part of a team which provides cover to a number of sites. You will have served a recognised Apprenticeship and ideally hold a BTEC Qualification in Carpentry.
