Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join a team of experienced nurses within the Scheduled Care Division. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Recovery team at Prince Charles Hospital.
You must be committed to delivering a high standard of patient care, have a flexible attitude to work and be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The candidate will be expected to provide guidance to Health Care Support Workers, Student Nurses and ODP students, as well as liaising with the Theatre Multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will be required to cover the department during weekends and also take part in the on-call commitment, specified in the job description.
You will be joining a team of dedicated nursing staff who will provide you with all the support you will need to flourish and further develop your existing skills within the theatre recovery setting.
We have a structured team base ethos where we regularly meet and we also hold specific development days which will be underpinned with regular personal appraisals and a development plan.
You will have access to further study and opportunities to expand your role in line with service development.
Informal visits are welcome.
Main duties of the job
The recovery unit is part of our theatre department which comprises of 5 main and 2 Day Surgery operating rooms. As a dedicated recovery practitioner, you will be responsible for the post-operative airway, pain and general management for patients that have undergone both elective and emergency surgical procedures. These procedures include specialties such as general surgery, gynaecological, colo-rectal, max-fax and orthopaedics.
As part of our service, we provide an on-call rota by night (20:30-08:00) and are often involved in the immediate post operative care of HDU patients.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
