Job summary
Early Years Advisors (EYAs) working as part of the Health Visiting team in Bridgend .
The EYA works with families within the areas of Bridgend, supporting them both on a one to one and group basis, under the professional direction of the family's Health Visitor.
EYAs support parents to develop parenting skills, form close attachments to their children and make healthy choices for their family.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Be responsible for undertaking support visits in the family's home and other settings, as delegated by the Health Visitor, and in accordance with Health Board and All Wales policies and Standard Operational Procedures
- Support the Health Visitor in developing and delivering individual packages of care for children and families
- Be responsible for organising own workload
- Support the Family Start Health Visitor to deliver the Health Programme
- Work with families within the home where there are often complex problems and contentious issues, such as child protection
- Ensure that advice given is evidence-based and accurate
- Be actively involved in promoting key public health messages within the community e.g. breast feeding and immunisation
- Monitor progress of the young children throughout interventions and report back to the delegating Health Visitor
