Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered midwife to join the multidisciplinary team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg health board, Princess of Wales hospital Bridgend and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda, Llwynipia.

Maternity Services are provided over 3 sites

The environment in the Prince Charles Site level 2 has undergone major refurbishment in 2019. We offer care to women in our obstetric unit and we have an alongside midwifery led unit.

At the Royal Glamorgan Hospital we have a free standing midwifery led unit offering women and staff the opportunity to birth in a home away from home in a tranquil and supportive environment

Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend is a Level 2 Maternity Unit. We are able to offer low risk women the opportunity to labour and birth in our alongside Midwifery Led room, Bluebell Suite or in our Birthing Pool.

Main duties of the job

There is opportunity for continuous CPD, e.g. Newborn Examination, Neonatal Advanced Life Support, Regular study days on Water birth and increasing normality. PROMPT courses are part of the annual multi professional mandatory training programme.

Cwm Taf Morgannwg is actively involved in research which is being led by midwives. Some of the areas of research we are involved in include: Smoking cessation, weight management and breastfeeding peer support all supported by Public Health Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
