Job summary
We are looking for highly motivated individual to join the team.
The post holder will be expected to manage a caseload of patients within the Primary Care surgeries and work closely with the GP's They will also be involved in education and health promotion issues that are applicable to this patient group and work alongside other professionals who provide services to this patient group.
Band 6 Annex 21 (Annex 21 remuneration will apply) dependent on qualifications and experience. This will enable a newly qualified band 5 with an interest in Substance Misuse to apply for this post, they will be supervised by the PCDAS/Clincal Lead Nurse.
This is an excellent opportunity for an RGN or RMN who has a passion for Substance Misuse treatment. Working in a busy clinic as a Substance Misuse Nurse, the role focuses on providing front line clinical care to service users. It is preferable (however, not essential) that you have experience in the following: o Vaccinations including BBV screening, HIV / Hepatitis B/C screening o ECG's o Alcohol and opiate detoxification o Health Promotion and Rehabilitation The ideal RGN or RMN - Substance Misuse Nurse will possess the following: o RGN or RMN qualified Nurse with relevant experience o
Demonstrable transferable experience in addictions for example: MAU, AAU, Gastro, Surgical, A&E, Custody, ITU etc o It is not essential that you have experience within addictions, but you must be able to demonstrate your interest in this field of Nursing and show how you have worked to gain experience, transferable skills and how you have come to be interested in Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services.
Main duties of the job
Establish rapport and maintain supportive professional relationships with service users and their carers, even when there are barriers to acceptance such as lack of insight or difficulties adjusting to complex life changes; recognising the stress associated with caring, offering and promoting carer's assessments as required.
Liaise with statutory and voluntary sector agencies in particular Children's Services, Social Services, Pharmacies and the Criminal Justice Agencies.
Provide specialist clinical reports as required e.g. Court, child protection case conferences and Probation.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
