Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic individual to work within the Podiatry Department, joining the community Podiatry team and provide an in reach Podiatric Service in Parc Prison , Bridgend. Based in the Princess of Wales they will provide support to the POW Diabetes Centre and Bridgend Community Services. The successful applicant will be experienced in the spectrum of Podiatric Practice to provide local provision and be knowledgeable to refer clients to secondary care when necessary.The successful applicant will be based at Princess of Wales Hospital but will be expected to be flexible with approach to work and will be required to work at other sites within Cwm Taf Morgannwg Health Board to meet service demand.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

The post holder's primary role is to provide an inreach podiatric service into Parc Prison, Bridgend. They will deliver a service, which meets the needs of the users from core podiatric provision to specialist care. Based in the Princess of Wales they will support Services to POW Diabetes Centre and Bridgend Community Services.

Work as an autonomous practitioner managing patients with highly specialised complex needs in a variety of settings particularly the Prison enviroment.

Work collaboratively with other professions e.g. GP's, consultants, nurses and other AHP's to provide expert, patient centered musculoskeletal care.

Work flexibly in the secondary and community care Podiatry Team and share learning and best practice across peer clinicians.

Provide training, education, supervision and appraisal for staff and students.

Contribute to the development of professional practice and the transformation and evaluation of service delivery.

Support the research and innovation agenda through participating in research and development activity.

Lead aspects of service evaluation with an emphasis on value based care and complex audit within their area.

Work in partnership with service users and staff to achieve improved health outcomes for service users and develop clinical pathways.

  • Masters level qualification or equivalent experience, skills and knowledge in an appropriate area.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge at post-graduate level, of tissue viability/wound management and diagnostic assessment of the lower limb.

Desirable

  • HCPC annotated as competent to prescribe and supply P.O.M.s
