Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Cluster Wound Clinic Service.
The wound clinic nurse is responsible for the delivery of all types of wound care to patients within the primary care sector. Working within clinic's treating and supporting ambulatory patients whose care needs are outside the criteria of the Practice Nurse and District Nurse.
The post holder will carry out holistic assessments of all service users with regards to their care needs, to aid in the development and implementation of evidence based practice treatment plans. The post holder will work autonomous in their clinical practice while acknowledging their limitations and seek advice as and when necessary. The post holder will work alongside numerous members of the multi-disciplinary team within primary and secondary care to provide effective and safe treatment for service users.
Main duties of the job
Our Wound Clinic Service has 3 sites based within the Bridgend ILG, based in Porthcawl, Pencoed and Maesteg. We provide all types of wound care to service users within this area, including carrying out holistic assessments, undertaking Leg ulcer assessments, doppler assessments, initiating Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (VAC), compression bandaging, post surgical wound care, and both acute and chronic wound care.
As a service we are eager to provide effective patient care by following new evidence based practice within our assessment and treatment process and aid in research recruitment of patients, when and where required.
The applicant must be a Registered Nurse with NMC Registration, be confident and competent in a wide range of clinical skills and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
There is a requirement for a flexible approach to the workload due to the set up of a clinical, appointment based environment. The ability to drive with a UK full driving license and business car insurance is required as travel between clinic sites is required in a timely manner.
This particular Role is based within our Bridgend ILG, however in exceptional circumstances you may be required to work in wound clinics within other areas that make up Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
