Forensic Community Psychiatric Nurse

Job summary

There is an excellent opportunity for x2 full time forensic community psychiatric nurses within the Criminal Justice and Forensic Team (CJAF). The role will entail supporting the whole forensic team covering all areas with the health board. The CJAF team has recently expanded it's services to the Bridgend area resulting in the need for team development.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake responsibility for the care co-ordination and case management of a defined caseload of clients with complex and challenging needs as defined within Parts 2 and 3 of The Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 this relates to service users with a Forensic history and current detention under the Ministry of Justice(MOJ)
  • Take a lead role in the care planning process, take on care co-ordination responsibilities and work within the Care Programme Approach ensuring that Service and CTMUHB policies are adhered to.
  • Take part in the evaluation of the care of individuals at review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds etc. This will involve travelling to private care providers within Wales and England.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice to other agencies for the purposes of public protection.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice to other agencies for the purposes of public protection. This will include forming part of the panels in order to share, discuss, and formulate risk plans to ensure public safety.
  • Attend relevant specialist assessment training and formulate to encourage safe and appropriate risk management .

  • Attend all relevant mandatory training as and when required to do so.
  • Undertake the necessary training and professional development to maintain the standards of professional practice and to meet the registration requirements of the NMC.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
