Job summary

Are you enthusiastic, well motivated, and want to add value and make a difference to the lives of children and young people?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Systemic Psychotherapist in our team.

Due to new investment in our Tier 4 Inpatient CAMHS Unit, Ty Llidiard, we have some fantastic opportunities with new therapy posts and an expansion to the workforce of the current therapies team.

Ty Llidiard is a 15 bedded tier 4 General Adolescent Mental Health Unit with a extra care ward, serving the population of South Wales. The unit has a full multi-disciplinary team, with a range of medical, nursing and therapeutic posts. The unit assesses and works with young people between the ages of 12 and 18 who live in South, Mid and West Wales and who are experiencing psychiatric disorders such as anorexia nervosa, clinical depression, self-harming behaviours and early onset psychosis. The successful applicant will work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of care and treatment for children and young people.

This is a fixed-term/ secondment post for 18 months with some specific objectives around establishing a systemic therapy service within Ty Llidiard. Options for part-time working will be considered.

Main duties of the job

Ty Llidiard is in an exciting period of change and development. Accordingly, this post has been established to lead the development of systemic psychotherapy, consultation and training within Ty Llidiard, as well as help shape the vision for the wider Therapies model on the ward.

The post holder will develop a pathway for improved transfer of care to locality CAMHS teams for young people following their discharge from Ty Llidiard.

The post holder will offer leadership and professional expertise into pan-health board specialist clinical teams according to national clinical guidance and Welsh Government priorities of increasing access to psychological therapies (e.g., First Episode Psychosis Team; Eating Disorder Team).

Providing training placements for systemic psychotherapists will be key to the sustainability of systemic psychotherapy training in Wales, and the post holder will work closely with the Centre of Systemic Studies, CiC (The Family Institute, Wales).

The post holder will lead on co-produced service and community developments that aim to enhance collaborative working with the third sector and people with lived experience of mental health, and provide consultation and training to wider mental health multi-disciplinary teams, with the view of promoting systemic and/or family-focused approaches across mental health care in CTMUHB.
