Primary and Community Academy Education & Training Development Officer

Job summary

We are searching for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to support the development of local and national education and training initiatives for the primary care and community services workforce.

This role will work closely with the Academy Manager and Clinical Lead, to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of multi-professional education, aligned with the development of Community by Design and otherstrategic priorities of both the Health Board and Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW).

The post holder will work in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders across General Medical Services, Dental, Pharmacy and Optometry services, as well as community services, to strengthen workforce development and embed innovative new processes to support high quality education and training across the region.

Main duties of the job

  • Lead the management and coordination of programme and course applications, acting as a central point of contact for key stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain effective systems, processes and business planning arrangements aligned to national workforce and education priorities.
  • Coordinate the delivery of work programmes, ensuring activities are delivered within agreed timescales, quality standards and available resources.
  • Plan, organise and facilitate stakeholder events, training activity and engagement sessions to support programme delivery.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support collaborative working, knowledge sharing and service improvement.
  • Lead and contribute to service review and improvement activity using recognised methodologies to drive modernisation and workforce development.
  • Analyse and interpret workforce intelligence, performance information and feedback to identify risks, trends and opportunities, producing clear reports and recommendations.
  • Monitor education and training programmes including contracted provision, ensuring effective governance, quality assurance and compliance with agreed outcomes.
  • Support effective financial management, including monitoring budgets, overseeing procurement activity and ensuring value for money, deputising for the Academy Manager as appropriate.
  • Contribute to audit, research, evaluation and policy development to drive continuous improvement and deliver high quality outcomes.

About us

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.

We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.

We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

  • An understanding of primary and community services gained from relevant experience or within the sector
