Your insight and guidance will help ensure we attract, develop and retain a motivated and effective medical workforce--one that is equipped to meet the needs of our communities now and in the future.

What You'll Do

  • Provide expert advice on medical and dental terms and conditions, including job planning and rota compliance.
  • Lead on a wide range of medical workforce matters, from contractual queries to complex staffing issues across all medical grades.
  • Implement and embed policies and procedures aligned with national guidance and best practice.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with clinical leaders and managers, offering proactive, solutions-driven support.
  • Analyse workforce data to identify trends, risks and opportunities, helping to inform strategic decision-making.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for providing expert advice to Directors, General Managers, SDM's, Clinical Directors etc to ensure the most effective use of medical resources.
  • To provide expert advice on all aspects of Medical and Dental Staff, ensuring a high-quality service is delivered to all our customers, both internally and externally.
  • Responsible for ensuring that information and advice on Medical and Dental Terms and Conditions, contracts, HR practice and employment law is accurate and up to date and also ensuring that queries are resolved promptly and accurately and ensuring decisions are made on the basis of best advice to both internal and external bodies.
  • Manage effectively, professional/personal, often complex and sensitive problems, relating to training and sickness for all medical and dental staff who can be upset and aggressive, liaising with appropriate internal and external bodies (the HEIW, ,PPA & GMC) where necessary, in line with Health Board Policy, HEIW policy and the TCS.
  • To gain an in-depth knowledge of the amended Consultant Contract and new SAS contract to be able to appropriately advice managers and staff.

This post is advertised as a Band 6, however applicants who do not currently hold all the necessary competencies to a Band 6 level are encouraged to apply and, if successful, will be appointed under Annex 21 rules whereby 65% of the top of Band 6 will be payable during the 1st year, 70% during the 2nd year, and 75% during the 3rd year. Applicants would be supported to develop their competencies required to fulfil the role within 36 months.

Following successful completion and successful attainment of skills and competences for the role, the post holder will then be paid at band 6 (minimum point on the scale). Failure to achieve the competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.

You will bring a blend of technical expertise, confidence, and emotional intelligence and be comfortable advising senior clinicians, navigating sensitive issues and influencing decision-making.

The role involves Hybrid working as a mix of in the office and work from home. Currently the team do 50% of their working hours in the office to provide office cover.
