Infection Prevention & Control Nurse

Job summary

The Infection Prevention Team is seeking an experienced nurse with a strong interest in infection prevention to support the delivery of the Infection Prevention Programme across the Health Board. As part of this proactive and responsive team, you will provide expert infection prevention advice, guidance and support to clinical and non-clinical services across all sites. A comprehensive induction with supervision and ongoing professional support will be provided to help you develop confidence and competence in the role.

Main duties of the job

  • Facilitate the delivery of the Health Board's Infection Prevention work program.
  • Work collaboratively with the operational teams in the Health Board and all staff groups to provide evidence based infection prevention advice, maintaining patient safety and supporting patient flow.
  • Work collaboratively with the Health Board-wide Infection Prevention Team to develop high-quality training resources.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the Health Board's Infection Prevention Team's audit plan, supporting service to implement robust action plans.
  • Contribute to the routine and enhanced surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs), ensuring timely data collection, analysis and accurate reporting in line with Health Board and national requirements.
  • Help ensure learning from individual cases and outbreaks is captured shared, and embedded into practice to improve patient safety and reduce infection risks across the Health Board.
  • The ability to travel in a timely manner between hospital and community sites where there is limited or no public transport
