Hywel Dda University Health Board

Cancer Psychological Support (CaPS) Secretary

The closing date is 22 March 2026

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrator and secretary to join our Cancer Psychological Support (CaPS) team, where you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support, while contributing to the ongoing development of the service.

You will work within a highly supportive environment, where collaboration is central to developing psychological support services for patients and their carers across Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB).

CaPS is a Health Board-wide service, providing specialist Counselling and Clinical Psychology interventions to individuals affected by a cancer diagnosis. The service offers a blended model of care, including virtual platforms alongside face-to-face support across both clinical and community settings.

The successful applicant will be based at Hafen Derwen, Carmarthen and will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to CaPS. You will also support the Cancer Information and Support Service (CISS) as required, to ensure seamless and robust cancer support services across HDUHB.

Main duties of the job

You will become an integral member of the team. The nature of this role involves supporting individuals impacted by a cancer diagnosis, and a high level of professional support and sensitivity will be required.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working autonomously as part of a wider multidisciplinary team, in partnership with healthcare professionals and associated services across clinical environments.
  • Delivering high-quality secretarial and administrative support (RSA3 level).
  • Leading on the introduction, implementation and development of new administrative systems and processes across the service.
  • Providing training and education to staff on new systems and procedures as required.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective office and clerical systems in line with Health Board standards and requirements.
  • Developing and maintaining data systems, liaising with IT, Telecoms and Infrastructure Departments as needed.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in IT systems including Word, Excel, Access databases, PowerPoint, Welsh PAS, Oracle and Canisc.
  • Managing your own workload effectively and prioritising tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Liaising closely with staff and healthcare professionals to support smooth service delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; both Welsh and English speakers are warmly encouraged to apply.

We welcome informal contact from prospective applicants.
