We are looking for a passionate and motivated Speech and Language Therapist who is committed to making a meaningful difference for people living with head and neck cancer. You will be eager to grow and develop specialist skills within this rewarding role.
This role offers the opportunity to join a well-established and respected Adult Speech and Language Therapy service, with excellent support at its core. You will also be an integral member of the multidisciplinary Head and Neck Cancer Team.
The postholder will be based at Glangwili General Hospital and will provide services across the Hywel Dda University Health Board region. The role will require working at other locations, as necessary, to meet service needs.
Main duties of the job
Contribute to the provision of speech and language therapy for the head and neck cancer population of Hywel Dda University Health Board byproviding high quality, efficient and effective speech and language therapy services, within available resources and in accordance with theRegistration Codes of HCPC and RCSLT.
Treat, manage and support patients and carers of patients with highly complex communication and swallowing disorders as a consequence of head and neck cancer.
Function independently with a developed level of clinical expertise in dysphagia and acquired communication difficulties to fulfil the coreresponsibilities identified.
Manage a complex, specialist caseload, independently applying knowledge of advanced management in dysphagia, including knowledge ofVideofluroscopic Swallow Study (VFSS), Fibreoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) and tracheostomy.

- Accredited post-basic dysphagia training

- Knowledge of key characteristics leading to a specialist differential diagnosis relevant to specialist caseload.
- Knowledge of selecting, setting and evaluating specialist treatment goals.
