An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Health Care Support Worker to join the Ceredigion School Nursing team.

This is a fixed term post working 22.5 hours per week, term time only.

The School Nursing service is part of the wider Children's Health services which provides Community based services for children and young people (aged 5-19 years). The school nursing service works with stakeholders across a number of settings and organisations to lead delivery of the Healthy Child Programme (5-19) to improve child health outcomes and ensure that families at risk are identified at the earliest opportunity.

Main duties of the job

As a clinical support work you will work under the direction of the Clinical Team Leader provide efficient, effective and comprehensive administrative and clinical support to the School Nursing Service. You will carry out visits to schools as part of Child Measurement Programme (CMP) to weigh and measure children and young people. You will support the nursing team in the delivery of health interventions e.g. immunisation programmes, health education sessions.

Visit school and education setting to weigh and measure children and young people as part of the Child Measurement Programme (CMP).

Plan, organise and prioritise own workload, while accepting direction and delegation from higher level administrative staff, clinical staff and managers.

Exercise good judgement, tact and discretion when dealing with patient inquiries, providing a basic identification of needs within the scope of the job and providing nonclinical advice to patients and relatives about admissions and appointments as authorised by the clinical team and team leaders.

Support administrative staff with general office duties e.g. photocopying, faxing and printing, handling of post, making and sending appointments, filing as agreed with the Professional Lead.

Support the preparation of relevant documentation for the CMP including preparation of consent forms when required.
