This is a fixed term/secondment vacancy until 07/09/2026 to meet the needs of the service.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with excellent organisational, communication and IT skills, preferably with a Blood Sciences background, for the post of Point of Care Testing (POCT) Information Technician to work with the Blood Sciences POCT team. The role will include travelling to all locations within the Health Board when required. Working base to be discussed at interview.

Working alongside the POCT Coordinator and team you will be required to support the day to day running of the service to ensure the provision of a proactive, professional and quality service. You will be responsible for the maintenance and quality of POCT devices, Information Systems and data.

The role will include working with staff of all grades in all areas of the Health Board and the sales and training representatives of companies that manufacture POCT devices. This is a fixed term/secondment post, part-time working 22.5 hours over 3 days a week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as part of a team to support the following duties in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):

Maintain the quality and content of data held on POCT databases and information systems e.g. WPOCT, AQURE, IQM, Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and Wales External Quality Assurance Scheme (WEQAS) etc.

Device maintenance and troubleshooting.

Administration of external quality assessment programmes, training, stock control and audit.

Act as first point of contact for POCT related enquiries.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
