Adult and Child Pre and Post Bereavement Support Counsellor

This is a Fixed Term/Secondment vacancy for 1 year until 1/12/2026 due to secondment cover.

This is an exiting opportunity for skilled and experienced adult and child counsellors to join our team. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard cost-effective pre and post bereavement counselling without direct supervision both within the community and hospital settings. This will be based upon evidence-based practice in line with the legal requirements, statutory and Health Board policies relating to practice.

Part time vacancies available ;-

2 x 15 hour post and 1 x 7.5 hour post

Ensure clients receive a safe, individualised and effective service by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care.

You will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members contributing to developing and maintaining the service philosophy for both adults and children working within the hospital environment.

Main duties of the job

Participate in the maintenance and development of high quality support and care to clients within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area. Research evidence, best practice and expert clinical judgement will underpin this service.

Have supported responsibility for managing a defined caseload without direct supervision. The post-holder will assess, monitor and co-ordinate an individualised, therapeutic programme of care in partnership with clients appropriate to need, context and culture. The aim of this is to empower and promote health. This will be performed utilising recognised assessment tools as well as clinical judgement and an identified model of health promotion.

Acknowledge and promote best practice, whilst recognising and reporting appropriately unsafe practice.

Provide accurate information tailored to the individual need and understanding of clients regarding the bereavement process.
