Oncology Co-Ordinator

Job summary

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive individual to support our Oncology service, as an Oncology Co-ordinator, providing comprehensive administrative, secretarial and statistical support to the Oncological Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).

The role involves the coordination and organisation of the Oncology CNS service and the recording and validation of all activities relating to the Oncology CNS. You will undertake a wide-range of duties including the provision of a statistical service which will include the collation, recoding and submission of information relating to the Oncology CNS service on local, network and national levels. You will also be responsible for coordinating the day to day activities of the Oncology CNS service, including cross site rotas, organisation of meetings and the coordination of team meetings and teaching sessions.

Main duties of the job

The role will also involve collecting and inputting clinical audit and performance data, producing mandatory and ad hoc reports and contributing to the development of best practices to ensure an effective and efficient service. You will manage telephone, email and in-person queries from patients, carers, healthcare professionals and external partners with the utmost confidentiality and professionalism. Using your initiative, you will respond to sensitive queries, seek professional advice where necessary and confidently liaise and negotiate with a wide range of departments.

You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisation skills and be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work. You must be able to work on your initiative, use tact and diplomacy where appropriate and possess excellent communication skills.

Advanced experience of Microsoft Office packages, coupled with proven experience of working in a patient facing/public role and previous experience of setting up, managing databases and audit/report writing is essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
