This is an exciting time for Hywel Dda UHB with the development and implementation of the Clinical Services Plan that will change the way we deliver our services, supported by a refreshed Primary Care and Community Services Strategy.
This is a pivotal leadership role, and the successful candidate will support the Clinical Director and Associate Clinical Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Management to provide strategic, clinical and professional leadership for the development of pharmacy services across primary care and community services in Hywel Dda University Health Board.
They will work in close collaboration with senior leaders, including GPs, community pharmacies, multidisciplinary teams and local authority partners to deliver the vision for pharmacy services, developing and delivering innovative, high-quality services to enhance patient outcomes, reduce health inequalities and support sustainable healthcare delivery.
Main duties of the job
This postholder will:
- Be a key member of the Senior Pharmacy Leadership team and responsible for ensuring a high quality and effective Pharmacy and Medicines Management service is provided within primary care across the Health Board to our patients.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for pharmacy services across primary care and community services, with responsibility for leading the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Team across the Health Board.
- Lead the development and implementation of medicines optimisation initiatives within primary care to support the Value and Sustainability Board recommendations, ensuring that prescribing budgets are managed effectively, providing expert advice on all aspects of medicines management, including evidence-based and economic use of medicines.
- Support the integration of pharmacy services across the Health Board and within multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to service transformation, digital innovation, and workforce development, bringing research and development into practice.
- Lead on medicines optimisation to deliver the Health Board's Decarbonisation Plan.
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
