This is a fixed term secondment post until 31/03/2026 due to funding.

Hywel Dda University Health Board's Digital Services department has embarked on an exciting investment to implement new Medicines Prescribing and Patient Flow systems to support our clinical staff. We require a Technical Implementation Lead to work with us to provide the technical support and direction for the implementations of the new systems and technologies. The role will also be the key technical lead for these technologies providing specialist advice and knowledge.

The role holder will have knowledge across a wide range of IT disciplines, including networking, applications, servers, user devices and security, with specialist knowledge in some of these areas.

Main duties of the job

Working as a key part of the ICT team the post holder will be responsible for providing the Health Board with specialist advice relating to a wide range of ICT technologies.

Investigating a range of highly complex infrastructure issues including the following:-

Network (LANs, WANs and Wireless)

Systems & Services (File & Print, E-mail, SQL Databases, Active Directory

Application Servers and supporting infrastructure services such as DHCP)Storage Services (SAN's, NAS and DAS)

Security Services (Anti-Virus, Firewalls and Patching)

Virtualisation Services (VMWARE / Hyper-V)

The post demands an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual with specialist knowledge across the range of ICT areas identified above.

The post holder will be able to work remotely but will be required to attend site approximately 1-2 times per week or during key project tasks or phases.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 12,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services to almost 400,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. 48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
