Health Care Support Worker Specialist CAMHS Substances Use Service

Job summary

Work as a member of the Specialist Substance Use Team in the provision of an evidenced based service for patients within both the remits of CAMHS and Substance Use, supporting the needs of carers and families.

Work across services ensuring timely and effective transition from S-CAMHS to Substance Use / Mental Health Services in line with local andnational policy guidance.

Provide patient care without direct supervision from qualified clinicians within the patient's own home and other community settings.

Main duties of the job

As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will deliver specialist Substance Use care and treatment to patients, their families and carers as specified in the patients care plan.

Continually assess and review the patients' needs and response to treatment during interventions; this information will contribute to the teams overall multi-disciplinary assessment and formulation.

Contribute to the planning of care for individual patients, their families, and carers by supporting with elements of the young person's treatment plan through providing psychoeducation, engaging in positive coping skills and providing support and guidance through activities of daily living.

Work with clients, their families and carers to promote positive mental and physical health, social opportunities and access to education or employment, engaging with patients, their families and carers to enable them to achieve the outcomes sought in their care plans.

This role will involve occasionally working autonomously. You will be delivering interventions occasionally in community settings working with young people with complex needs including both mental health difficulties and substance use.

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject Or Equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and worked based training/short courses
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
  • Ability to be able to complete certified /accredited physical intervention training, for example Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) during induction
