Orthotics Officer/Podiatry Assistant

This is a fixed term/secondment vacancy until 31/08/26. Due to Maternity cover.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring day to day running of the Podiatry and Surgical appliance office, as well as ensuring that admin tasks are met, and a quality service is delivered.

The role will also include:

Provide assistance to a supervising podiatrist in the delivery of complex podiatric treatment and admin support where necessary.

Assist the podiatrist to carry out foot care and health promotion activities.

To receive and initially deal with telephone and written enquiries and complaints.

Dealing with urgent matters appropriately, ensuring that Department procedures are followed in order to record/follow-up as necessary.

Main duties of the job

Supporting the administrative needs of the Podiatry and Orthotics Service including using the oracle procurement system and the administration of orthotic invoices.

To provide basic foot care to patients of the Podiatry Department under the direction of the Podiatrists and to support the delivery of Podiatry services in all its dimensions.

Responsibility for booking and rearranging of appointments for the Surgical Appliance/Orthotic department and the Podiatry service as required.

Arrange patient appointments including Hospital transport if applicable.

Ensure all clinics are full to capacity.

Ensure that all new applications are processed appropriately.

Action necessary changes to the clinical programme when notified of sickness/absence of clinical staff. To notify patients of cancelled clinics and ensure that these patients are rescheduled as soon as possible
