Job summary

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, suitably qualified, and experienced HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist for a bank Specialist BMS role within the Haematology/Blood transfusion section of the Blood Science Department, Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen.

The vacancy is a Bank position. To support the haematology/Blood transfusion daytime and out of hours rota.

The individual should possess either the Specialist Diploma (IBMS Specialist portfolio) or equivalent experience and prior post registration experience to undertake a specialist role within the haematology/Blood transfusion Section.

Main duties of the job

The laboratory provides services in Biochemistry, Haematology, Coagulation, and Blood Transfusion , running fully automated platforms with Biochemistry analysers being the Roche Cobas PRO system with a Specialised Chemistry Section, Haematology analysers are Siemens Advias, Coagulation, Werfen TOPS analysers and Ortho Vision platforms for Blood Transfusion.

The successful candidate will be primarily based in the Haematology/Blood transfusion section at the Glangwili General Hospital site which sits within the Carmarthenshire Division of Hywel Dda University Health Board. The Carmarthenshire division comprises of Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen and Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli, and the successful candidate may be expected to work across both sites as required.

The successful candidate will be expected to effectively communicate information, advice, instruction and professional opinion to colleagues and Pathology Service users in both primary and secondary care.
